Veneers Ponte Vedra FL

Veneers Ponte Vedra FLVeneers are gaining more and more popularity among patients for their ability to help correct damaged, misaligned, or discolored teeth— leaving you with that flawless smile you’ve always wanted. Here at Blue Water Dental of St. Johns, Dr. David Sorenson uses two types of dental veneers to help restore your smile: composite and porcelain— both of which have many unique benefits. And although one of the unique benefits of dental veneers is that they are strong and hard to stain, it’s still important to take as good of care of them as you would your natural teeth. Here are a few tips.

Brush Regularly

We encourage all of our veneer patients to brush with a non-abrasive fluoride toothbrush at least twice a day or after every meal. Because veneers are just placed over the front of your teeth, you can still get cavities, harbor germs, and bacteria, and develop bad breath which is why you should brush your veneers like you would your normal teeth.

Get Regular Exams

Some patients have the misconception that dental veneers mean that dental health goes out the window. However, as previously mentioned because most patients only get veneers on their front teeth, it’s important to get regular dental exams for the rest of your mouth and to ensure that your veneers are in good shape. Make sure that you are still getting biannual dental cleanings.

Limit Stain Inducing Foods

Although composite veneers are more likely to stain than porcelain veneers, we still encourage our patients to avoid stain-causing foods and beverages like red wine, black tea, and coffee. If you are an avid wine and coffee drinker, try drinking water with it to help prevent staining.
